Classroom Choreography Part 2: Detailed Class Schedule
People most often email or post questions related to scheduling details. I'm posting my detailed classroom schedule here in hopes of giving others ideas for scheduling their class schedules. Next I'll go more in depth about my circle time, table time, individual programming, and natural environment learning activities.

Hello, I am struggling in this area and need to wrap my brain around my daily schedule and how it compares to other who are surviving better than me ;)
ReplyDeleteHere are a few questions I have:
1. Do your students all arrive at the same time? Do they all eat breakfast at school?
2. What are the other students doing while some are toileting?
3. Who supervises during rest time while para 1 is on break and Para 2 is in inclusion?
4. What subjects do your students attend for inclusion?
5. Describe Individual Programming/Natural Environment Learning...Do you teach using Discrete Trial, Pivital Response Training, or another method?
6. How many students do you have?
Thank you so much for your insight!!!
Hi! You are not alone in the struggle to perfect your daily schedule! One thing I have learned is that it will never be perfect. I try to stay flexible and am constantly researching and trying new things. Here are the answers to your questions, I hope this helps:)
Delete1. Do your students all arrive at the same time? Do they all eat breakfast at school? No, I have morning, afternoon, and all day students. Morning students and all day students arrive between 7:30-8:00 and do eat breakfast at school. Afternoon students arrive at 11:00 and eat lunch at school.
2. What are the other students doing while some are toileting? For first toileting, half of the group is having social play time. For second toileting, half is having a sensory break. For third and fourth toileting, the whole group goes at once. I keep "waiting chairs" in our bathroom too and we have two stalls. One adult stays in the room with that group and the other two take the group to the bathroom.
3. Who supervises during rest time while para 1 is on break and Para 2 is in inclusion? I do. I eat lunch during this time and plan.
4. What subjects do your students attend for inclusion? It depends on the student. Right now, I only have one student going out to Pre-K during their centers time. I've had students go out during science/social studies, some during specials, and some during circle time.
5. Describe Individual Programming/Natural Environment Learning...Do you teach using Discrete Trial, Pivital Response Training, or another method? I do teach using discrete trials while my paras use more natural environment learning (para-led activities such as appropriate play in kitchen center, play area, etc.)
6. How many students do you have? I currently have 10. 8 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon. Only 3 are full-day. A few don't come on Fridays.
